Crypto ransomware is a form of ransomware that locks a user's files through encryption.^[0][1] The computer is typically still interactable, but many of the user files are encrypted and therefore unusable.^[2] Crypto ransomware will typically target user files such as documents, database files, photos, and videos. The hackers typically demand a ransom payment in exchange for the decyption key.
